Exports up in March but values fall back slighty on annual measure

March’s export figures for selected fashion and textiles goods show an additional £38m was exported in the month with a value of £907m.  This represents the third successive increase in the value of exports although slightly below the £916m exported in March 2015.  All four product groups saw increases in the month with clothing standing at its highest level of £253m.

On the rolling annual measure, exports stood at £10.18bn for the year to the end of March.  This was £8m less than in February although remains the second highest level of exports seen on this measure after the month previously.  Texiles was the only product group to increase over the month although on a longer term view, it has been clothing and footwear exports that have seen large increases.
