Clothing and footwear prices edge down in April

The latest consumer price index figures for April indicate clothing and footwear prices edged down in the month although they remain two percent higher than at the start of the year.

Over the year, the Index is 0.3 percent higher than in the previous April although the second half of 2015 did see a roller coaster for prices as the index rose sharply to October before falling back with heavy discounting in the run up to Christmas.
