The most recent monthly turnover figures have showed manufacturers in the fashion and textiles sector collectively increasing their turnover to £685m in February 2016, the third successive quartely rise in line with the traditional pattern exhibited during the traditional easing down in the run up to Christmas. This February’s figure is slightly down on the previous February’s that saw a subsequent large increase in turnover in March as production geared up. Manufacturers will be hoping the pattern for this March will continue to follow closely to 2015s trend.
At a sectoral level, textiles manufacturers have seen a good increase in turnover when compared with a year earlier whilst leather and related products has remained static. Wearing apparel manufacturers however saw reduced turnover figures on a year before in what has been a slighter weak start to the year.
